Zazzy Zebra

Two post in one night! Yes we admit decorating has been our priority - we are working on it.

Even though Kelly's niece Caroline is six she has strong opinions and impeccable taste. Seriously we had a meeting with the six year old. We were given th theme of hot pink and zebra. Over the course of a week's worth of lunch breaks we went to work.

To keep up with Caroline's impeccable taste we started with a tulle skirted cake table. The main table had a hot pink tablecloth and a zebra ribbon for the table runner. Yes, a party for a six year old needs a table runner. Keeping the table kid friendly we used all edible centerpieces and plastic salt shakers as bud vases. As a finale, each plate was tipped with a sprinkled rim cup. A true sweet end to the day.

Farmer Feast

Kelly has been dying to use turf as placemats since the summer and we knew my Dad's birthday was the perfect opportunity to use them.  So building off the theme of grass placemats that we purchased in a 12 foot strip from Home Depot on our lunch break (multi-tasking*) we decided to use cows as accents.  Sticking with the farmer theme we used dried natural wheat as the centerpiece in Leah's Grandmother's old Ball jars.  We also utilized the wheat to dress up the turkey silverware.  For dinner we had a hearty sausage pasta and kept with the farmer theme for dessert with dirt cake adorned with pigs.  We made sure not to go overboard or girly with this occasion since it was for Leah's father (a plaid-wearing work-boot-wearing man's man) and lets admit it-its hard for us to tone things down!

Pigs were purchased from Kroger in the 10 for $10 section
Of course Leah's Dad had to pull a prank and put Tootsie Rolls under each of the cows like poop.

For future reference all words preceeding a * symbol should be said in a slightly high pitched enthusiastic voice; you are also welcome to tilt your head while doing so.
